Junne’s Race to an All-Star Smile with Invisalign
Junne’s Race to an All-Star Smile with Invisalign
Junne Robertson-McIntire is a young woman on the go… literally! As an accomplished high school track and field athlete, Junne stays busy practicing, competing, and working towards her goals. Recently, our team at Seasons of Smiles had the opportunity to meet Junne and oversee her Invisalign treatment.
More about Junne
When she’s not studying or taking classes, you can find Junne on the track. With numerous accomplishments under her belt, she continues to wow spectators with impressive scores. In fact, last year, she shattered her school record in the 200 meters at 26.63!
As one of the most talented sprinters in the New England area, Junne doesn’t have a lot of time for dental appointments. That’s why we recommended Invisalign when she visited Seasons of Smiles for an orthodontic consultation. After Dr. Norman Medina spoke with Junne about her dental concerns and oral health goals, they both decided that Invisalign® could deliver the smile she wanted in the most efficient way possible.
Junne’s Invisalign Journey
With her busy schedule, we knew Junne would need a convenient treatment option that wouldn’t get in the way of her athletics. In fact, there are several reasons why Invisalign was the ideal solution to Junne’s orthodontic concerns. Invisalign offers:
- Transparency: As a high school student, aesthetics are important to Junne. She wasn’t totally opposed to wearing metal braces, but when she learned that she could straighten her teeth with clear aligners, she was thrilled!
- Removability: Once advantage Junne had over her braces-wearing friends is that her orthodontic appliance was removable. Her Invisalign trays could be removed whenever she was eating or drinking, meaning she had no dietary restrictions. Additionally, brushing and flossing was a breeze, too, as there were no metal components to clean around.
- Comfort: Traditional braces come with brackets and wires that can potentially irritate the tongue, lips, and cheeks. Invisalign is sleeker and more comfortable compared to conventional orthodontics. Therefore, Junne experienced minimal discomfort while undergoing treatment. Over-the-counter pain relievers alleviated tenderness when necessary.
- Fewer visits to the dentist: Junne is a busy, young athlete. Between practices, meets, and competitions, monthly visits are not always going to be convenient. While traditional braces warrant a dental visit every month, Invisalign patients can often wait approximately six weeks between their appointments.
Junne’s Dramatic Results
With all of the benefits Invisalign has to offer, there is one disadvantage: The aligners cannot work unless they are worn long enough. For effectiveness, Invisalign trays must be worn at least 22 hours every day. Junne was fully committed to this, and wore her aligners without fail. To achieve her goals in a timely manner, she kept her orthodontic appointments and followed all of our recommended guidelines.
Now, Junne maintains her progress by wearing a retainer every night – a simple habit that will deliver lifelong benefits! Whether you see Junne out on the track or out on the town, you’ll be sure to notice her brilliant, bright, straight smile.

Congrats Junne – more power to you!! I have undergone invisalign treatment from my dentist at Landmark Smiles of Scottsdale, AZ and I can say that it does have some advantages over traditional braces – the fact that they’re almost invisible and are removable is one of them – which I particularly liked about them. Thanks for sharing this article!
