This morning while reading through Digg.com, I noticed an interesting post, entitled “If You Don’t Go To The Dentist, Your Teeth Will Literally Fall Out Of Your Head“. As the lead picture, they used an interesting photo of a Panarex x-ray. So I decided to click on it and give it a read.
I must admit I started reading the post with fear and trepidation. You never know what people are going to say on the internet, especially about dentists. After reading the article, twice, I couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief.
The article talked about how increased dental visits correlate with keeping your teeth in your mouth. The article pointed out that states with lower dental visitation rates, especially in the south, had a higher rate of elderly people who were missing all of their teeth- as high as 36% in West Virginia!
I know that I have days where I wonder, if after it’s all said and done if we as dentists have made a difference. Are we trying to stop the inevitable? This article was reaffirming. I love my kids, and I love their beautiful teeth. I want them to grow old with their teeth in their mouths, which reaffirms my desire for my kids to keep up on their twice a year dental office visits.
Why are my kids at the dental office?
